My Vacation
I had a terrific spring break! I went to swimming
practice every day. I spent a lot of my time swimming. I also had a swimming tournament
in Cuenca for 3 days, where I was able to compete with kids from all over the
country in a 50 meters long pool for the first time. One thing I liked the most
about my vacation was that my Mom came to Cuenca with me.
My Mom and I flew to Cuenca, at the airport there were
no taxis, so I had to walk with my Mom about 3 blocks to find a cab; luckily we
were able to find a taxi that took us downtown. We stayed at the Mansion
Alcazar Hotel, it was a cool boutique hotel and it was built in what was the residence
of a former Ecuadorian president, his last name was Borrero - Crespo.
Then after we checked in to the Hotel, I went to
practice at the Jefferson Perez Olympic Pool ,
Jeffer son Perez is the only Olympic medalist in Ecuador.
The next day was the tournament and I was so excited
and a Little bit nervous, but after doing the first 200 meters butterfly, I
gained confidence and I was able to have an excellent timing. The tournaments
were all day long from 8:00am to 8:00pm because there were a lot of
participants from all over the country.
The last day of tournament was on Saturday and it
ended around noon, in the afternoon I had chance to visit an aunt that lives in
a small town called Ricaurte, it´s about 30 minutes away from Cuenca. My aunt
is very old and I had not seen her in a very long time, so I was really excited
to see her and I think she was also very happy to see me.
Even though my summer was loaded with activity, it
still seemed like a long break. After spending so much time practicing and my
swimming tournament, I felt like I needed a vacation!
